With the new FDA sunscreen rules in effect, you can have more confidence when selecting broad spectrum sun protection products. Then the job comes down to choosing one which addresses any other skin concerns you have.
Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30 contains virtually the same sun protection ingredient formula found in my favorite sun protection product (Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with Helioplex).
Aveeno promises the added benefit of evening out skin tone and diminishing brown spots caused by past sun damage with Soybean Seed Extract.
"ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex is clinically proven to even tone and help improve the look of brown spots in just 4 weeks while immediately brightening to bring out your skin's natural radiance."
The immediate brightening effect you see is from reflective Mica - a nice effect.
I particularly like the directions Aveeno provides with this product. Talk about truth in advertising ...
"For sunscreen use:
• Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure
• Reapply at least every 2 hours
• Use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating
Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including:
• Limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses"
Remember that sun protection is step #1 in anti-aging skin care and should begin in childhood for maximum benefit. However it's never too late to start. The skin has remarkable capacity to heal and repair with a little help from you.
Personal notes: I found the texture of Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 to be nice and creamy, bit on the heavy side. It pills on my skin and is not suitable to wear under foundation. It does works well with BB creams however.
