NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash AHA 20In addition to 18% Glycolic Acid, NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash AHA 20 contains 2% Lactobionic Acid, one of the PHAs favored by the doctors at NeoStrata (see yesterday’s NeoStrata Video).

Lactobionic Acid is safer and better tolerated than its better known cousin Glycolic Acid, according to recent research. Science writer Katie Bird reported for Cosmetics Design on the study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.

However, the AHA and PHA in NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash are not on the skin long enough to exfoliate. NeoStrata does not make exfoliation claims for its foaming wash. Rather the wash is described as "a pH-balanced, soap-free formulation for deep cleansing without irritation".

The inclusion of Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate makes this product very beneficial for combination or oily skin. Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate has excellent cleansing properties and especially for removing oils.

If you purchase NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash for its cleansing power alone, you might be very pleased with it. But if you expect the 20% AHAs to renew your skin by exfoliation, you'll be disappointed.
