[Part 1: Botox Being Used for Mini-Neck Lift appeared yesterday.]
Livestrong.com has an article with range of motion and strengthening exercises for cases where platysmal banding is primarily due to loss of muscle tone.
There's a more technical explanation of the Cosmetic Use of BOTOX® Injections for the Aging Neck at MedScape which ends with,
"The 2 large bands can be injected with 20 units each and smaller bands with 5 units each. Most patients require a total of 50-100 units, and some require as many as 200 units. Use caution to inject the platysma muscles and not the muscles beneath them, since this is more likely to cause swallowing weakness. Complications are minimal and may include transient edema and ecchymoses, hematoma formation, muscle soreness, and mild neck weakness."
Botox can be used to diminish the visible bands on the neck, and products that contain skin-firming ingredients, such as Niacinamide, Hyaluronic acid, and Hexamidine, can be helpful for tightening and plumping loose neck skin left behind.
Finally, I want to tell you why Botox alone was not enough for my ropy neck. At 66, my skin doesn’t have the resilience of a 50-year old’s. Though my platsyma muscle is relaxed and no longer noticeable after the Botox, I have more loose skin hanging around the area as result.
If your skin is still pretty elastic and heals quickly, Botox alone may do the job. If not, your physician may also recommend a filler to pick up the slack.
The longest-lasting alternative for loose ropy neck is, of course, a surgical neck lift.
My dermatologist is very conservative and doesn’t yet have experience with injecting fillers into the neck. Until I can find one who does, I’m doubling up on my StriVectin-TL Tightening Neck Cream. I had been using it once a day.
Stay tuned for before and after photos to come …

Botox is not always enough to have the look of your dreams.
I know this because a few months ago when I decided to remove wrinkles using a botox Toronto treatment my physician told me the only way to achieve my goals is to combine botox with a laser treatment that should improve my skin texture.
Maybe that's what she needs or who knows maybe her doctor was not very inspired in her case:)
