Saturday, I blogged about the growing popularity of anti-aging skincare for men. As I see it, anti-aging skincare is a health issue as much as an appearance one. Cosmetics can hardly be said to improve one’s health; however more men are getting on that bandwagon too. Why?
As I said in my earlier blog post, “It could be that as co-workers, wives and girlfriends take steps to stave off the ravages of time, men feel pressured or motivated to pay more attention to maintaining their youthful looks.”
Youth, or the appearance of youth, is undeniably an advantage in the workplace. Study after study confirms that youthful good looks are not only a social advantage but also give one a leg up on the job.
I think it’s nice that men no longer have to borrow their girlfriend’s or wife’s concealer stick or foundation to cover blemishes, dark circles or uneven skin tone. They can march right up to the makeup counter and ask for The Men Pen Concealer Stick or Colorscience Metro Menerals Primer (Minerals For Men to sooth and smooth sensitive skin after shaving.) to match their skin tone.
I’m glad that my DH cares enough about his appearance to dye his gray locks using permanent hair color designed for men. The men’s versions generally work faster and are formulated to cover gray rather then completely change one’s natural hair color. As a bonus (and women with thinning hair have known this for ages) hair dyes coat each hair strand for a noticeable and long-lasting thickening effect.
