Here is the complete LED wand safety.
First let’s review a couple of things I said in my first article on LED treatments .
NASA found that optimal LED wavelengths for tissue penetration are 680, 730 and 880 nanometers (billionths of a meter). Baby Quasar uses wavelengths of 630 to 950 nm.
NASA also experimented with different levels of energy to deliver the light. They found that, at 4 joules per square centimeter, DNA synthesis in fibroblasts and muscle cells could be quintupled.
[Joule is a measure of energy. One joule is equivalent to one watt radiated for one second.]
Baby Quasar uses 2.6 joules per square centimeter. So the Baby Quasar therapy differs from NASA’s research in two ways. It uses wavelengths slightly beyond the NASA range, but delivers them with less energy.

In regards to the Baby Quasar, it uses 4 wavelengths between 630 and 950nm, not 3 between 660-1200. Also,when NASA states 4 joules they are referring to the amount of light energy emitted over a period of time to achieve a benefit. This is measured by power time and area. One ten cent led can produce 4 joules over a small area if left on for long enough. In order to properly judge joules, or light energy output, you need to measure in joules per centimeter squared per minute. 4 joules is the amount of light, over a period of time, NASA recommends. I hope I am not confusing anyone :)

On Amazon.com, the product description for the Baby Quasar says,"The Baby Quasar uses four different wavelengths, between 600 and 1200 nm, both red and infrared". However my (one-year old) Baby Quasar has only three light modes.
I know the light is really red and infra-red but they put little plastic caps over the LEDs, I guess so users can see some difference.
My three modes are described in the manual as:
1. Green Light Continuous Wave Mode (most power);
2. Orange Light Low Pulse Mode (least power); and
3. Red Light High Pulse Mode (middle power).
Thanks for weighing in with your technical comments. I hope we can get this sorted out.
P.S. Whether the Baby Quasar delivers four wavelengths or three and up to 950nm or 1200 nm, I should add that the important things is I still love it and the improvement it has brought to my skin!

Dr. Amy Khasky has spoken directly to the makers of the Baby Quasar and was kind enough to let us know.
The wavelengths generated by the Baby Quasar range from 632 to 950 nm.
